The Dreamtaker

by Chad Burn

About The Book

Can you accomplish good by doing evil? It was Rick Dane’s first question about war and one for which he could not find the answer. A young man is seeking redemption for his choices to follow leaders, not realizing that their intentions are not the same as his and failing to realize not everything can be repaired. He was trying to control his environment by using escalating violence then learned that what you choose as a means is its result.

A young woman who knows no world beyond her village culture is robbed of what she believes is essential to make life worthwhile. Now she must go in search of the man who destroyed her in hopes of returning to her childhood dreams.

A doctor who finds the very essence of her being challenged by what she knows cannot exist, causing havoc in the field of her study. A young lieutenant realizes that to live free; perhaps the only way is to live unobserved.

A drug addict who needs to find a release from the grip of her decisions finds herself with the same choices as the village girl. Two men of intrigue who believe their talents will preserve the freedom of the country they live in are misused.

Their worlds collide, each doing what they assume they must while believing that their actions are the morality that will save the world from itself. Each is damned by their choices and only one is destined to live free.

About The Author

Mr. Chad Burn is a student of philosophy, history, law, and ethics of different cultures. To understand what happens when cultures clash, and each side believes in what they are doing while behaving with certitude that the other side is wrong is his work. Having served in the Marines during the Viet Nam War, his dad and mother served in the Navy during World War II, these experiences give him a unique perspective on how we come to war and what we think we are accomplishing. A strict realist, Mr. Burn believes we must understand how and why we act on our beliefs at all levels of conduct and that our responsibility remains with us no matter how we try to give it away. A generous family man who will risk everything to protect the innocent, Mr. Burn believes in the morality of free choice.
