About The Book

Dr. Barbara M. Gibby was born in Woodburn, Oregon, and was raised in Willamette Valley. She married shortly after her high school graduation and had three sons. She resumed her academics after her sons entered school, taking up nursing at Chemeketa Community College and served as a nurse for more than a decade, until a patient seriously injured her.

She has attended the University of New York and the Western Oregon State University, where she became a counselor, and worked as a rehabilitation counselor and as an adjudicator for the State of Oregon Worker’s Compensation for ten years. She earned a doctorate  in psychology from the Pacific University in Forest Grove and has worked in private practice since 1995.

A board certified master fellow with diplomate status she received various awards throughout her career, including the Albert Nelson Marqui Lifetime Achievement Award and an International Peace Prize with the United Cultural Convention. She has been involved in humanitarian works and has been one of the leading figures in improving the situation in eight schools in Uganda, during her two-decade of travels in the country. She has also traveled to various countries around the world.

About The Author

Barbara Gibby is a life-long Oregonian. She was born in Woodburn and raised in Willamette Valley. She married shortly after graduating high school and had three sons. She went back to school after her youngest son started first grade. She attended community college, graduated as a nurse, and worked for about eleven years before getting a serious injury from a patient. After that, she studied to become a counselor and worked with the State of Oregon for Worker’s Compensation for ten years. She got a doctor’s degree in psychology and has worked in a private practice since 1995.

Barbara has received five Marquis awards, including The International Peace Prize from the United Cultural Convention. She has also worked with several non-profit organizations, including one in Uganda to bring clean water to eight schools. She also toured several countries in Europe, Africa, South America, and most of North America. Barbara is a dedicated writer who has also authored another book titled Ending Wars on Uganda's Children.
