Every childhood has its own blueprint of memories. Some memories are stored, some vanish, and some are kept alive through words, music, or paintings.
Olga’s childhood has inspired her to record her memories through paintings. Her canvases are filled with scenes of Siberia’s snowy landscapes, village life nestled by birch trees, forests, lakes, and above all, her admiration for divine beauty and the infinite wisdom of Mother Nature.

Olga Timofeyeva, the creator of this book, was born in Siberia, Altai Krai, in the former Soviet Union. She spent her childhood in a tiny remote village living in harsh conditions with no electricity or running water. Every month she accompanied her grandmother, who was exiled there by the Soviet officials, to the local police station to prove that they had not escaped.
By 1977, she and her ten-year-old daughter, Tatyana, had become refugees leaving Russia for the USA. In New York, Olga was employed as a systems analyst. At the age of 54, she was diagnosed with cancer. While a patient at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), she attended a watercolor workshop where she held a paint brush for the first time. This event was a turning point that where she held a paint brush for the first time. This event was a turning point that transformed her life. She discovered a magic world of painting. Since then, painting has become her passion, which has helped restore her body and spirit. Olga’s childhood has inspired her to record her memories through paintings.
Olga currently lives in Forest Hills, New York, with her beloved dog, Kroshka. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.
